The surviving brother of a woman killed in a November crash on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County alleges a trucking company is to blame for hiring a driver who was reckless and negligent.
Jack Tooley of Tompkinsville, Ky., and the co-administrators of the estate of Tooley's sister Nancy Elizabeth Tooley filed the action in U.S. District Court in the Middle District of the state for the northeastern division.

Ron Barr, the general manager of the Greater Ottawa Truckers Association, told Alan Neal on All in a Day the Ontario government instituted tougher rules for wheel checks for commercial trucks in 2015.
"I thought [those rules] would have really put a curtail on these [incidents], but I know they happen once in a while and I can't tell you why," said Barr, whose organization represents independent truck operators but not the company connected to Friday's incident.

RANDALL COUNTY, Texas (KVII) - One person is dead following a Saturday afternoon crash in Randall County, just west of Umbarger on Highway 60.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said 29-year-old Rogelio Rangel of Dumas was driving a semi-truck westbound about one mile west of Umbarger.
The DPS said 24-year-old Christopher Vandenberg of Sioux Center, Iowa was also driving a semi-truck eastbound and crossed over the center median, colliding into the truck driven by Rangel.
